I have been meaning to learn computer language - since I was 10 years old.
My dad bought a computer set from a bankrupt company - as a junk, and all I can remember about it was WordStar. My dad used to spend some of his time in front of the computer to update our family journal. He wrote about me, my siblings and mother or something related to what we had for lunch and diner.
I also remember that I need to key in few code - where I believe it known as script in our modern day - in order to play some un-fancy game, which I have forgotten its name. I was always fascinated on how I can simply change the background color of the interface by changing the code numbers.
It was a secondhand computer, and did not last for many years. After 2 years, everything when wrong, and we discard the set.
After many years, when I was 15, my friend introduced a new version of computer that promote easiness for me as end user, Window. I was kind of happy, as every keyboard command can be skipped by a single click.
When I was 17, I have been introduced with internet. Since then, saya bagaikan telah terlupa tentang asas komputer.
Sekarang, masa buat PhD, semua benda nak kena "kena tulis" sendiri. Baru padan muka nak kena belajar balik satu-satu.
So here is my promise. I will devote myself to learn Unix language for the sake of my PhD, and will learn Python afterward - probably after I finished my study.
Promise?
Yerp :)
